love it Scott Other

Pros: I buy gloves and donate them to teams in need. I was given a Rawlings when I was 14, Tom Seaver model. I still have it today. These gloves are built the same way.

Cons: Only wish they were cheaper so I could help out more.

Not what I was hoping for Al Coach

Pros: Glove fits well. Decent pocket.

Cons: Stitching not good, leather has a plastic feel. After two weeks of heat and leather softener it’s still hard.

Great glove right out of the box! Max Coach

Pros: Very little break in time and was game ready in a couple of weeks. Soft leather that was easy to shape and would definitely buy one again and wish I would have picked up one for each son during the sale.

Cons: Nothing really.

Satisfied with this Glove J B III Player

Pros: Breaks in easily Nice pocket Feels good on the hand. Bought it for Men’s league and used it for two seasons so far. The leather is soft, will get one more year out of it. Then it may be a little floppy.

Cons: Will get too soft after 3-4 seasons.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

My son is 8 and has the 11.25 glove. Wanting him to move up to the 11.5". He plays 3rd base. What are your thoughts? Christian
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG is an excellent option for someone seeking a quality glove at the 11.50 inch size. The glove will feature around an 80% factory break-in so it should not take more than a week to get game ready. Only thing that could be concerning regarding this glove is the fit on a youth player's hand at 8 years old. This Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG may ultimately be a better hand fit for someone between 12-15 years of age.
Cameron
Is this a youth glove or adult? My son is 9 and has pretty small hands so not sure if this will be too loose or big for his hand. Is the 11.25 size a smaller fit? Marc
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG is designed for an adult fit; ideally for players between the ages of 12-15+. This will likely fit too loose for a 9 year old. A better fitting option would be the Rawlings Gamer XLE 11.25" Narrow Fit Baseball Glove: GXLE312-2NW.
Cameron
One HOH Mark of a Pro (SP204-2wbr) has the palmed stamped with Rawlings Logo and Mark of a Pro, while model SP115BG is stamped with Select Pro. Are they the same product line and do they have the same leather quality? Mike
Both the Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG and the Rawlings HOH Mark of a Pro Series 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP204-2WBR are Mark of a Pro models. The big difference between the two is the overall break in out of the box. The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG will feature more of a break in similar with the Horween Leather that is used on Heart of the Hide Dual Core series gloves.
Cameron
My son is about to turn 10. Would this be a good size for a utility model? Ryan Hall
Yes, the Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG would make for a great glove for your player to continue to grow into.
Tyler
How much are they and are they Heart of the Hide? Randy medina
Unfortunately we have sold out of the Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG. As for the construction of these gloves, they are constructed with the leftover HOH shells.
Cameron
Would this be a good glove for a 14 year old 2nd basemen/shortstop? Jack Peterson
Yes, the Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG could work for a 14 year old middle infielder.
Cameron
Is this gloves leather similar to the Heart of the Hide? Is it made out of the same cow hide? David
The Mark of a Pro line is designed for a younger player and easier break in period, and uses a softer leather shell to achieve this. It will not be made of the same quality leather that the more expensive models are made of, but still uses the top 5% of the leather hides that are used for the Mark of a Pro line. One leather batch is used for the more expensive models, another is used for these models. Each is made of the top 5% of each batch.
Kyle
My son is 11 and has always been small. Do you think this glove will be big on his hand? Robert Reyna
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.5" Baseball Glove: SP115BG will have a tighter fit and I think it would be a great option for your 11-year-old.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
