Description

The Wilson A2K Series simply exudes greatness. These gloves were meticulously developed with a focus on durability and a break-in faster than you can imagine. Made from Pro Stock Select Leather, these gloves use only the top 5% of all hides Wilson purchases and were triple sorted for consistency and flawlessness. This unbelievable consistency in the leather leads to a stronger pocket and an all around higher quality glove. The A2K Series features Rolled Dual Welting where strips of Pro Stock Leather are skived thin and rolled to provide long-lasting shape. With this particular glove, Wilson has replaced some of the leather on the back of the shell with their proprietary SuperSkin material. SuperSkin further reduces the gloves break-in time, repels moisture and dirt, and is actually 2X stronger and lighter than leather. Inside, a thin strategically cut piece of leather is placed between the palm and outer shell, providing maximum pocket stability and improving the durability where the most wear-and-tear is experienced. Its 2X Palm Construction also provides maximum shock resistance during the catch. A2K gloves showcase the time and passion that Wilson's craftsmen have put into every single glove they produce, as their master technicians spend 3X longer pounding and shaping the glove by hand before it even leaves the factory. That should be all the proof you need that the A2K from Wilson was created with unparalleled craftsmanship, and is one of the highest quality gloves a player could ever take to the diamond.

This Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS features an 11.25" pattern size, an I-Web (Wilson H-Web) with Double X Laces, and is one of the most popular patterns among Professional infielders. Questions and Answers

Have a question about the Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is there a big difference between the size of the hand opening in this A2K and the size of the hand opening in a A1K? Same question with respect to the difference between A2K and A1K as to the heel profile. Also, will this A2K be too big for a hand of a 9-year old? ARC
There will be a noticeable difference between the wrist opening and finger stalls with regards to the Wilson A2K Series and the Wilson A1K Series. The A1K models will fit tight on the hand for most adults and would really be a better option for someone with smaller hands of the pre/early teenage player that is looking for a glove with higher leather quality but with a shorter break-in period. As for the heel profile, there will not be much difference between the two and one would tend to believe that the Wilson A2K Series will be too loose on the wrist of a 9-year old.

I am 14 and 5'5". I play middle infield but usually 2nd base. Will this glove be good for those positions, or should I go up to an 11.50? Also, will it last me through my 4 years of high school? I am going to decide between this glove and the Robinson Cano A2000. Which do you think will be the best option for me? second baseman 19
Most middle infielders will use between an 11.25 to 11.50 inch pattern. There is no right or wrong choice but rather it is all one of personal preference. Both the 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS and the 2016 Wilson Robinson Cano A2000 SuperSkin Series: A20RB16RC22GM are great options to consider and, with proper care, should be able to get a player through 4 years of high school.

Is this a good glove for 3rd base? jonny baseball
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS has an 11.25" pattern and it can work for third base, but typically it is better suited for the middle infield. A third baseman is usually better off with an 11.50"-12" glove.
Jason
How does the Rawlings Dual Core Series compare to the A2K Series in terms of softness? T-Bone
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS will take more time to break in compared to the Rawlings Dual Core Series. The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS features a higher grade of leather and does not feature the same tanning process that the Dual Core Series features to make the leather softer.
Cameron
Is this 1788 glove available in 11.5" size? Joe
When an A2K glove is built in the 1788 style like this 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB161788SS), it will automatically come with an 11.25" length on it. An A2000 model that did come with an 11.50" length and an I-Web is the following glove: 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB161786). Unfortunately, we are no longer stocking that A2KRB161786 glove at JustBallGloves, but it might be worth looking around and seeing if any other retailers have it available.

Does an 11.25 in Wilson fit like an 11.5 Pedroia fit glove? 3rd base
No, the length of a glove is not really going to affect the fit. An 11.5" Pedroia Fit glove is going to have a smaller fit than your typical 11.25" Wilson glove such as the 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB161788SS).
Carter
Will this work for a 13 year old third baseman? g baseball
The 2016 Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS is an 11.25 inch pattern. This model has a wrist opening and finger stalls designed for an adult player but should still work well for most 13 year old players who play 3B. At the 3B position one may want to consider a glove with a 11.50 inch pattern.
Cameron
How do you get the model of MLB players? dada
The manufacturers are the ones who work with the MLB players to design their model gloves. Some models become more popular, and so Wilson or other manufacturers will sell those models in larger quantities to the public.

Looking for the top middle infielder glove for 16 year old high school baseball. Plays short and second. He is 6"2' tall. Marty
The Wilson A2K is a great line of gloves that would be considered a top tier model. Another great option that would be comparable is the Rawlings Pro Preferred line of gloves.
Kyle J.
I recently tried on a DI88 11.25. Is the fit on this 1788 glove similar or the same? gabe
Unfortunately I am not familiar with the DI88 model. The Wilson A2K Series: A2KRB161788SS is a great option for someone playing middle infield.
