Deceiving Dad Parent

Pros: None

Cons: This glove is not an HOH, it is a select pro. Bought one thinking this is a grate deal for an HOH. To good to be true? It was. There is a very big difference in leather between the 2 and this glove is not even close to the quality of an HOH. I compair the leather to more of an A900 which you can get for $70

Great Quality and Fit Scott Coach

Pros: Best glove quality and fit combo I've seen in a youth glove. The break in process was easy for my 8 year old with some glove oil and mallet. A couple games of catch in the yard and it was game ready.

Cons: Not available in more sizes. I would love to get this glove in an outfield size for my son as well.

Tori
Good morning. My son is ten years old and he plays the shortstop. I am torn between the Rawlings HoH Mark of a Pro 11" (SPYPT1-2RC) and the Rawlings HoH 11.25" (SP1125BG). As they compare in size, the difference is much? Since i'm looking for a small glove for him, i was wondering if it was worth paying more for the SPYPT1-2RC? ali jimenez
As the Rawlings HoH Mark of a Pro 11" (SPYPT1-2RC) is only .25" smaller than the Rawlings HoH Mark of a Pro 11.25" (SP1125BG), the difference should not be very noticeable to most players.
Kyle
Is the select pro model equivalent to the mark of a pro model? I see different prices for mark of a pro over select pro. Don DeRosa
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG will have higher quality leather and will last longer than the Select Pro Lite youth model. The Mark Of A Pro is intended for intermediate youth to adult players.
Daveron
This looks like a Select Pro glove, not an HOH Mark of a Pro glove. Which one is it? Please explain. Thanks. Justin
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG is a Mark of A Pro series with the "Select Pro Palm" stamp.
Cameron
Does the Rawlings Youth HOH SP1125BG have a Pro Taper / Narrow fit? Michael
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG will feature a narrow fit for smaller hands.
Daveron
I have an 8 year old daughter starting softball in 2020 season. I always used HOH growing up and wanted her to have something of quality. Will this fit her? Good for beginner? Scott
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove (SP1125BG) would be a great glove for her and it will fit.
Patrick
What would be a better fit for my 8-year-old who moves positions a lot, 11.25 HOH Mark of a Pro or the 11.5 R9 with trapeze web? Justin
Both the Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG and an 11.50 R9 could work for someone that plays multiple positions. Per the player's age, the 11.25 inch size would be a better fit.
Cameron
Just purchased this glove for my 9 year old. What’s the comparison to a Wilson A1000 PF? Also, is this a true HOH glove or no? Todd
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG would compare favorably to a Wilson A1000 glove. Both gloves are designed more for the youth player between the ages of 8-12, depending on the size of the glove and the position the player plays. As for these HOH Mark of A Pro models, they utilize the remnants of the leather that Rawlings did not use for the HOH models. These gloves will not feature the same padding characteristics that one would get with a HOH glove; this allows for the Mark of A Pro models to be more game ready.
Cameron
This is marked as "Youth" so is it the same size as the R9 Youth glove or the A500 (i.e., finger stalls, opening)? Lance
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG does not feature a youth pro taper fit so it will likely not have the same feel/fit as a Rawlings R9 or A500 model. With that being said, this is still an excellent option for younger players.
Cameron
How does this glove compare in quality and longevity to the Rawlings Gamer series? What other series of another brand would you call comparable? Dan
The Rawlings HOH Mark Of A Pro 11.25" Youth Baseball Glove: SP1125BG will be similar to Gamer with just a slightly better quality. The Marucci Ascension series would be similar to it.

About the Brand

Rawlings is a major manufacturer of competitive team sports equipment and apparel for baseball, basketball, and football, as well as licensed MLB, NFL, and NCAA retail products. Rawlings is a major supplier to professional, collegiate, interscholastic, and amateur organizations worldwide, including the Official Baseball Supplier to Major League Baseball.

The first real innovation in glove making occurred in 1912 when Rawlings Sporting Goods Company introduced the "Sure Catch" glove, which was "endorsed by leading players all over the country." The Sure Catch was a one-piece glove with sewn-in finger channels and looked better suited for a duck's foot than a man's hand. Catchers' mitts used at the time were large and bulky with a single leather thong passing for a web.

In 1920, Bill Doak, a journeyman pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, approached Rawlings with an idea for improving the baseball glove from a mere protective device to a genuine aid in fielding. The "Bill Doak" model was so revolutionary that it stayed in Rawlings' line until 1953. Its key feature was a multi-thong web laced into the first finger and thumb, which created for the first time in baseball's young life, a natural pocket.

In 1925, Rawlings unveiled a three-fingered fielder's glove, and ten years later improved the Bill Doak model with a two-piece leather web. At the same time, the "T" web became a rage for first basemen's mitts. The pocket underwent a pronounced change in 1941 when the Trapper Mitt, also known as the Claw, appeared. The "Deep Well" pocket was so unique that Rawlings quickly patented it. The design was improved in 1950 by adding a leather piece across the top. Another significant creation occurred in 1948 with the three-fingered Playmaker. A five-fingered fielder's model, with all fingers laced together, provided greater pocket control.

The six-fingered Trap-Eze evolved in the 1960's. In more recent years, Rawlings produced the Fastback design, which gives a glove a snugger fit, greater extension, and overall control. The Holdster is a slot through which a finger can be extended for additional protection from impacts on the pocket. Then, there is the Edge-U-Cated Heel with its extended U-shaped lacing and the Pro H Web and much-copied Basket Web.

Some of Rawlings's more recent glove innovations also include the unique Spin-Stopper design which reduces ball spin when the ball hits the glove, and the Cantilever glove design feature that provides a cushioned area between the hand and the glove's palm area. In all, Rawlings has produced and patented more functionally innovative glove features and designs than that of any other glove manufacturer. The result is that the modern baseball glove is much larger, more comfortable, better padded, and made to last far longer than its ancestors. It is not uncommon to see today's Major League players wearing the same Rawlings glove they wore during their college playing days. In fact, Rawlings is the #1 glove in the major leagues. Rawlings maintains about 65 models of baseball and softball mitts and gloves in its line. The prototypes of virtually all of them have been field-tested by professionals before entering a sporting goods dealer's inventory.
