Description

If you've ever played catcher, you've likely heard of All Star mitts. For years, All Star's catcher's mitts and equipment have been highly regarded among those who play the position. This season, for the first time ever, All Star has released their own line of fielders gloves called the System Seven Series. These gloves draw from the success of their mitts and use the same high-quality leather found on their popular CM3000 model. This Japanese Maruhashi Black and Tan leather allows these gloves to break in fast and have long lasting durability. The tan leather inside breaks in fast and forms a great pocket, while the black leather's stiffer feel provides the support needed for a long lasting glove. Inside, All Star's Pro Guard Padding provides a thin layer of extra padding in the palm that helps kill the sting of mis-caught balls, yet is thin enough to still allow the player to know right where the ball is in the glove. This 11.50 Inch infield model features a conventional open back and a shallow pocket for easy scooping and quick ball transfer. Its I-Web is perfect for 2B, 3B, or SS! All Star: Move Forward. Rise Above! Free Shipping!

Pros: Good padding. High quality glove. Leather is very high quality. I would say that this glove is about the quality level of the pro issued Pro Preferred at half the cost. Very good buy.

Cons: This glove is very stiff out of the box. Laces are very thick, but soft.

Pros: Great leather and pattern.

Cons: The only downside to this glove is the obnoxiously big palm pad. Because of this, no pro will use it in my opinion. Get rid of this and the glove is great.

Pros: I was deciding between this and a Mizuno Global Elite. Now that I look back on it, I laugh at myself that I was even considering buying a Global Elite over this. This glove is awesome!

Cons: Break i period is a bit long.

Pros: Amazing glove. Was thinking about getting a custom pro preferred but instead got this and it is way better than a pro preferred. Padding is good and the PGP is not bulky or uncomfortable. $200 for a glove that is probably worth $330. Just as good as the CM3000 catchers glove.

Cons: I want to get another one.

Pros: These are not the first fielder's gloves All Star has ever come out with. My dad worked for the company back in the 1980s and so I had an All Star glove. They started focusing on catcher's gear only shortly after. Logo was a bit different but this is a high quality glove just like the ones my brother's and I still have today.

Cons: A bit flashy.

Excellent Glove Craig Parent

Pros: This review is for the 11.75" model. I was pleasantly surprised when I received this glove. This is a very high quality glove and the leather is very stiff out of the box. The combination of the stiffer black outer leather and the softer tan inner leather really allows this glove to be formed and hold its shape superbly. I used Nokona glove conditioner during break-in and it worked out very well. This glove took a while to break-in as it has a thick heel pad and palm pad. My Son uses it in the finger-shift position and it works very well. The longer break-in period really allowed us the get the glove to form extremely well to my 13 year old Son's hand. This is a very high quality glove, especially for the price.

Cons: Very stiff out of the box and took a while to break-in.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

When will this glove come out? Dan
The All Star System Seven Series has been released. As of 10/12/2012 we do not have an image available. Our photographers are working on it and it should be up in no time.
John
Is this glove a good alternative to a A2000, A2K, or good Rawlings gloves? I saw this on their website and saw it as a cheaper option? Would this glove be good for a 12u player? jjvsa1273426
The All Star System Seven Series would be an excellent alternative for the A2000 series. The 11.50" glove is perfect for a twelve year old infielder.
Kara
What's different with the black leather and how does it hold up overtime? How does this compare to the Wilson A2000 1786? Andrew
The black leather on the the All Star System Seven Series gloves is stiffer to provide the support needed for a long lasting glove. It will have similar durability and break-in time to the Wilson A2000 Series.
Tyler
Is this the same leather found in the All Star Pro Series: CM3100SBT Catcher's Mitt? BIgHoppa
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF uses Japanese Maruhashi black and tan leather and the All Star Pro Series: CM3100SBT Catcher's Mit uses Japanese tanned US Steer hide.
Damon
How will this glove hold up and is it a true 11.5 or does it seem smaller or larger? Billy
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF is made from high quality leather and features very good durability. It measure true to size at 11.5".
Tyler
This glove is the same leather as the CM3000BT catchers glove that is $329.99. Why is this glove only $190, and how does this compare to a Pro Preferred? billy
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF has the same leather used as the CM3000BT Catcher's Mitt. The System Seven Series is a new series of glove released by All Star for fielders. All Star, at one time, only produced equipment for catcher's only. They just want to be able to bring the same quality and performance into other positions as well. This is a great glove. I would compare it a Rawlings Heart of the Hide not a Pro Preferred. The Pro Preferred are made with soft Kip Leather. This glove will be made from a harder leather that will take a little longer to fully break-in.
Brandon
Does this glove have an all leather inside? HopBaseball1254
Yes, the All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF is all leather in the inside of the glove.
Chad M.
I have always used Rawlings Pro Preferred and I love how the leather stays stiff. I have used the same Pro Preferred for 4 years now and its almost as stiff as it was brand new. Will this All Star glove do the same? bblack20
All Star gloves, including the All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF, are known for their durability and stiffness. You should expect similar performance that you received with the Pro Preferred.
Kevin
When will the right hand thrower be available? Kenny O
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF glove in the right hand thrower should be back in stock in about two to three weeks. To be put on an out of stock reminder list, please call 1-866-321-4568.
Aubrey
Can I pitch with this glove in NCAA Division 3 baseball? basquiat
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF glove features a two-tone tan and black leather design. The NCAA rule for the color of a pitcher's glove states that it cannot be white or gray. It is also up to the umpire's discretion whether he deems it distracting or not.
Mac
Is this a good double pinky glove? And is the pocket smaller than normal infield 11.5 gloves? glove guru
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF has a loop in the pinkie stall and will not be an option for players who prefer to put their ring and pinkie fingers in the pinkie stall. It has a shallow pocket for an 11.5" glove.
Tyler
Are the finger stalls small or regular in size? flaka
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF is an adult glove with regular-sized finger stalls and a wrist opening catered toward an adult's hand.
Katie
What is the typical break-in period of this glove? Mid-infield
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF 11.50" glove will take 1-2 weeks of playing catch everyday to get it comfortably broken-in.
Brandon
How does this glove compare to the Mizuno Global Elite Series: GGE60VBK 11.50"? curious
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF and the Mizuno Global Elite Series: GGE60VBK are both great 11.50" gloves intended for infielders. The Mizuno is made of a higher quality, handcrafted Japanese Tanned U.S. Steerhide, which makes for a softer, more durable glove than the All Star.
Katie
Would 11.5" be to small for a 15 year old infielder? Cookie
No. 11.50" would be a good size for a 15 year old infielder.
Damon
Is this glove going to be a very very stiff and hard glove right out of the box, and will it maintain its stiffness? JohnyBoy
Yes, All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF glove will feel pretty stiff at first. It will also maintain the shape throughout the lifespan of the glove.
Brandon
Will this glove stay stiff after a season or just become floppy like most other gloves? 2b
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF is made with very high quality leather. If properly cared for, this System Seven series glove will retain its shape and quality for many years.
Justin R.
How is this glove different from an A2K or Pro Preferred? Tom
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF would have a similar feel to a Rawlings Heart of the Hide of a Wilson A2000. It would have a stiffer feel to the high quality leather it features. The break-in would take quite a while.
Brandon
Is the extra padding in the palm of the FGS7-IF so big that it will be hard to break-in a good pocket? grunny
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF will be pretty tough to break-in regardless of the extra padding. A good pocket can be formed.
Brandon
How come this glove is only $199.99 when the catcher's model is $329.99? richy
All-Star has crafted their System Seven Series gloves from the same Japanese Maruhashi Black and Tan Leather that the Pro Elite models are made from. The difference in price is likely caused by All Star trying to be more competitive in the marketplace against other manufacturers like Rawlings, Wilson, and Mizuno. There are also likely differences in the production process. Unfortunately, we don't have a definitive answer to that question, but All-Star can be contacted directly at (800) 777-3810 and should be able to give you more insight into that question.
Mac
Is there any oil that does not turn the leather darker or a way not to turn the leather darker? Mike
All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) has a more lighter leather. The more oil you put on a glove especially the lighter the glove the darker the leather will get.
Kyle
Will I be able to flare this glove on the thumb and pinkie? Sam
Yes, you can flare the thumb and pinkie on the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF).
Jason
Can this glove be used to pitch as a 14 year old? Sean
Depending on the size of your hand, yes. The All Star System Seven Series: (FGS7-IF) is a size 11.50", however, the average size based on your age is recommended around 12". If your hand size runs on the smaller size, this model should work fine. It is an excellent infield model, and should work well for you.
Merritt
Is this a good glove for 16 year old primary 3rd basemen? Manny
Yes, the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) is a great glove for a high school player. It is made with high end Japanese tanned leather and the I-Web will work perfect at the hot corner.
John H
Is this glove better than the Wilson A2K? nick
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) will be a stiffer leather material compared to the A2K Series from Wilson. It would be very comparable to the Marucci Founders' Series line.
Brandon
What is the best middle infield glove? kit
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) would be a fantastic selection for a middle infield glove. It has a very stiff leather that would last for many seasons. The break-in time would take a while to break-in comfortably.
Brandon
I'm torn between getting a Wilson 1788 or this. Which would be better? Anonymous
Both would honestly be great options that are made of pretty comparable leather. The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) may be a bit easier to break-in, but both models would have a stiffer feel out of the box. Ultimately, you would need to decide whether you wanted the 11.25" pattern size of the A2000 1788 or the 11.50" pattern size of this All Star model. Both sizes are great for middle infield, so it totally depends on what you're most comfortable using.
Mac
Would this glove form to your hand like a Wilson A2000 does? Anonymous
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF will feel very stiff like an A2000. It will be able to be formed to your hand through the break-in process.
Brandon
Can you go two fingers in the pinky with this glove? Anonymous
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) will allow for the pinky stall to fit both fingers. This will help the glove close more fully.
Brandon
How similar is this glove to the DP15 A2000? cmatth4
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) will be a more standard adult fit than on the Wilson A2000 Baseball Glove (A20RB15DP15GM) which is designed to fit a smaller hand. It will also be slightly easier to break in. Both gloves feature high end leather and quality construction for good durability.
Patrick
I am 16 years old playing on the varsity high school team. Should I get the 11.5 or 11.75 inch model? Mac-attack
Both are great options. Whether you should get the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) or the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-PI) would be based more on your preference. the pocket style and size on the IF is more like what we would expect a middle infielder to use. The PI model is more versatile for other infield and potentially outfield models.
Patrick
Do you have an ETA on when the LHT of this model will be in stock? Todd
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) in left handed thrower unfortunately has been discontinued by All Star so we will not be getting anymore in stock.
Jake
Is the lace that attaches the fingers tight or loose? Also, will the leather stay stiff for a long time or get floppy like other gloves? Speedy
The leather on the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) should be very durable if taken care of and it should hold its shape well. The lacing on the fingers is pretty standard for high end gloves and whether it feels tight or loose would be more a matter of how you break-it in and what your preference is.
Patrick
In the video the glove looks big. Is the glove big compared to a Wilson A2000 11.5? cmill
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) is a fairly standard size for an 11.5 inch pattern. It would compare well to other models of that size.
Patrick
Is the padding so thick that I can't even feel the ball? Bradog
You will be able to feel the ball making contact with the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) but it shouldn't sting your hand.
Allison
Is this glove as good quality as an A2000 or is it better? Will it last longer? Is it more durable? Bradog
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) and the Wilson A2000 Baseball Glove (A20RB15DP15GM) are both great options. Although they will be similar in durability the steerhide the A2000 is made of is one of the more durable leathers.
Allison
Is this made from the same leather as your catchers mitts? Dat Dude BP
Yes, the All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF glove is made from the same leather that is used in All Star's catchers mitts.
Cooper
I play the hot corner (3B) and I was wondering would this glove be a good glove for that position? baseball2015
Yes, the All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) is a great option for third base.
John
I was wondering if this plays true to size? Or does it play big or small? I can play anywhere in the infield would this be a good glove? Dominic
The All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) is a great glove for infield play. Given that whether a glove plays to a certain size is largely a matter of opinion, it is tough to say. However, it does compare similarly in size to other 11.5 inch models.
Patrick
Would this glove be good for 2nd base in the 11.50 in model? How would the quality compare to the Wilson A2000 A20RB161786? Jack
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF is an infield model so it may definitely be used at second base. Both this All Star System Seven Series and the 2016 Wilson A2000 Series: A20RB161786 are excellent, high quality baseball gloves that will feature similar quality leather.
John P.
Do you ship to Canada? canadianbball
Here at JustBallGloves.com we can only ship within the 50 US States.
Cameron
How is the quality of the palm leather compared to an A2000 or a HOH? Nolan Zajac
The quality of leather in the palm of this All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) will be very comparable to what is featured on an A2000 or Heart of the Hide glove (I do not see one specific model having any advantage over any others in regard to the palm leather on the glove).
Ben
What are differences between this glove and the Wilson A2K 1786? Nolan
Both this All Star System Seven Series (FGS7-IF) and the 2016 Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB16DP15GM) will feature an 11.5" length, an I-Webbing and a fit for an adult male hand. However, you'll notice the difference in the cosmetic scheme on each glove and also the grade of leather featured on the A2K will be of a higher than the grade of leather on this FGS7-IF.
Ben
Is this glove made out of the same leather as All Star's catchers gloves? :)
The All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF list it as using Japanese Maruhashi Black and Tan Leather and the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000XSBT Catcher's Mitt uses Japanese Tanned U.S. Steerhide Leather so it sounds like it is a little bit different kinds of leather.
Carter
How does this glove compare quality wise to the Capire gloves made of the Pro leather? What might make the other one better or worse? Nolan
It is tough to compare the All Star System Seven Series: FGS7-IF to the Capire models as we do not currently carry these gloves. Looks like these gloves are constructed from US Steerhide and pre-soften to help with the break-in process. Typically, All-Star gloves will be stiffer than most gloves out of the box but are still great gloves to consider. In summary, it is tough to say if one is significantly better than the other.
