Great Glove, Get What You Pay For

Pros: Solid mitt. I have a few guys on my rec team who throw in the mid 80's - this mitt protects my hand quite well. It broke in faster than I thought it would, but having guys throwing that hard combined with the glove oil and mallet really brought this thing around quick. It's a better mitt than I am catcher!

Cons: Expensive! Looks like the laces in the webbing are starting to stretch a bit, but I don't think that's going to be serious problem anytime soon. Needs some break-in time, but that's true of any quality mitt, especially a catcher's mitt.

Pros: This is the best catchers mitt I've ever had. I have had a Rawlings Pro Preferred, this blows that glove out of the water. If your a college or high school catcher buy this glove its worth the money.

Cons: After a while it gets a little floppy but if you condition it a lot it keeps it stiff.

Pros: This is by far the best mitt out there. I used to use another company bc my school gave them to us but I had to go back to this....I get mine straight from All Star and in a week i feel comfortable enough to bring it out in a game. the leather is so strong but breaks in quickly. Sometimes when a glove breaks in so quick that means it breaks down quick as well. not with these though! I have several SBT's from highschool that are in great shape. (granted i use them for only one year)

Cons: None that I could think of.

Pros: I was using a rawlings pro preffered to catch for my high school team after catching a guy only throwing around 82 with no batting glove undernieth my hand was busted up and bruised. I got this glove and i can now catch our fastest guy throwing upper 80's without a glove undernieth this is such high quality and you will never have to worry to much about catching it in the wrong spot

Legal Eagle

Pros: This mitt is a obviously a well-crafted, high-end glove. The leather is somewhat softer than others but appears to be quite durable. Glove is a little stiff but should break in relatively easy. It is well-padded to the extent you cannot feel any "sting" from a thrown fastball. The leather was the biggest surprise. It's doesn't feel like the leather used in the Rawlings or Wilson high-end gloves. In fact, I may not use conditioning oil on this one.

Cons: The Price. Ouch! Take a deep breath and bend over because All-Star is obviously proud of their product, as shown from the high price. I just hope it holds up as well as some of the high-end mitts I've used from other manufacturers that didn't cost quite this much.

best mitt i have ever used Jesse player

Pros: this glove is the best mitt i have ever used, i will never go back to another glove. it was very easy to break in. it has the best feeling when it comes to reciving the ball. the sound it makes when the ball is caught is like no other. my favorate things about the glove is how it closes when you catch the ball and i find it much easier to transfer the ball compared to my other mitts. my throw down to second feels much smoother when it comes to the transfer of the ball. overall best catchers mitt.

Cons: the bad thing about this glove is there is no bad things about it lol

Pros: Breaks in incredibly fast, doesn't need any special treatment just sit back and catch with it and shape it how you like. Has a great pocket but not to deep. Leather lasts and it stays stiff.

Cons: I would recommend using a glove when you catch with it because your sweat can make the leather crack and cause the glove to not stay as stiff

80catcher

Pros: This is a great value and great glove. Yes laces especially in catchers gloves stretch and wear out they need to be replaced periodically. I liked someones idea of A2K laces, as they seem like good quality brand name laces, but if you use the glove even those laces will need replacing. Someone complained about the faded wording on the glove...for me it will wear off the front side anyways so I don't care and mine were plenty bold enough. The tanning on this glove is different than the harder tanned brands like many of the Wilson A2000 and Rawlings HOH and above. Those last 2 can take more oil, I recommend just enough oil to help keep moisture out. This type of leather does better with less oil than many other gloves. Good gloves take time to break in, this is relatively fast breaking in, but it is still stiff and takes time.

Cons: The velcro wrist doesn't have as much adjustment as the regular leather lace in wrist...some will like and some won't. In the event that you need a replacement pinky loop, you won't be able to get it from AS, but this is not so much a con as it would be nice if they sold the more obscure replacement pieces. That too, you can remedy. It is the best glove regardless.

The Best Dan M coach

Pros: I caught all through high school and college. I have used a pro preferred and the pudge. Both are excellent gloves with the edge going to the Pudge. I like the leather on the A2000 better. now that I have been coaching the past 5 years I was in need of a new glove. I do a lot of catching clinics and I still enjoy catching bull pens when our catchers need a breather. I have used an All-Star on the mens fastpitch circuit and loved it. There is nothing comparable. So I made the jump to the smaller 33.5" for baseball. I have had this 33.5" all-star for about a year now and the glove has held up extremely good. I dont use liquid oil on my gloves, only mink saddle oil and in very small amounts. I highly suggest switching to mink oil if you use liquids. I love the leather on the All-Star. I feel that its a lot tougher and has a higher moisture content than the pro preferred that tends to be much dryer and sucks up any conditioner. The leather is much lighter than Wilson A2000's.

Cons: the laces do stretch. i prefer a very tight glove with very little give in the pocket. This isnt a huge deal. The guy who rebuilds my gloves used his own laces and they are very stiff and extremely durable. i also dont like the pointer finger holster on the outside of the glove. The Velcro is also cheesy. These have nothing to do with performance.

Questions and Answers

Have a question about the All Star Pro Elite 33.5" Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT? Ask our team of experts and they will respond within 24 hours.

Is there a size between the SBT and BT in this line and, if not, would you go bigger or smaller on a 5'10" high school catcher? catcher80
Unfortunately, there is no other size between the 33.5 inch CM3000SBT and 35 inch CM3000BT. A 33.5 inch mitt would be better suited for a high school age catcher.
Brett
How does this glove compare to an A2000 and a Heart a the Hide of similar size? catcher80
All Star specilizes in catchers gear and their Pro Elite Catchers Mitts are some of the highest quality catchers mitts on the market. It will probably be a little more durable than the A2000 or even Heart of the Hide catchers mitts. The CM3000SBT is a great mitt for a competitive ball player.
JH
Many of the reviews talk about how soft the leather is, from my experiences if the glove breaks in fast and is soft it doesn't last. So, the question: is this glove stiff out of the box and does it break in slow like a Heart of the Hide or is it soft? Soft worries me in lasting power! catcher80
This glove does have soft leather, but it will take more then a week to break in. This glove will hold up for a long time and you should not see anything wrong with the glove. After a couple years, the games will get to the glove, but this is one of the best catchers mitts we carry.
Brett
Does this glove keep its shape for long and how long until it is fully broken in? Adan23
This is a high quality, durable mitt that holds it's shape very well. If you work with the glove everyday it should be good to go after a week or week and a half. Repetition is key.
JH
Is it recommended to go with a smaller glove like the 32 inch model or something slightly larger like the 33.5 inch model? Right now I use a 32.5 inch model and was wondering if it would be a minor or major change to what I am used to. Mark48
That's a difficult question to answer without knowing your age or preference towards catchers mitts. However, going from a 32.5 to a 33.5 would be a significant and noticeable jump. Just ask yourself, How comfortable is the mitt I'm currently using? Also, do you ever have any problems trapping balls in the dirt or any other issues like that? Comfort level is the ultimate question though. If you feel really good with the 32.5 mitt you have now, there may not be a reason to go up or down in size. I would recommend going to a local sporting goods store and try on various size mitts.
Brett
I need a glove to catch my 11 yr. old daughter (fast pitch). I am a big guy with a big hand, any suggestions? Fish
This will be a good glove for that. I would also recommend softball gloves so that you have a big enough pocket to catch the ball. The baseball ones are going to have a small pocket for a baseball.
Brett
I am a 15 year old (5'11" 176 lbs) who plays elite level baseball. I'm looking to upgrade my glove to an all-star CM3000SBT or CM3000xsbt. I've only used 32" gloves in the past. I'm a little apprehensive about going up to a 33.5 glove. Will there be a big difference? Or is it normal to go up to this size at my age? Ontario Terrier
Most of it is preference. If you feel more comfortable with a 32", and don't want to go all the way to a 33.5, then you might look middle of the road at like a 32.5 or a 33" Keep in mind our 100 day guarantee!
LKH
What is the difference between Japan tanned steer hide and Japan tanned US steer hide? TM4
U.S. Steerhide means the glove uses the hide of steers from the U.S. Japan tanned steerhide uses the hide of steers from Japan and All Star says these mitts will be a little higher quality.
Derek
Would this glove compete to be a better catcher glove then the Torino ASM 47? Catcher at the best
Both of those gloves will be good. This one will have a better leather and will be a little more durable than the Torino.
KG
What is better the Pro Preferred, the Mizuno Pro Series: GMP20 Catchers Mitt, the APM 43: 33" CIRCUMFERENCE PRAYING MANTIS PATTERN, or this catchers glove? I play at college level and I need the best of the best. Brendan
The All Star series is going to be heavier and stiffer than the other gloves. It will take longer to break in, but it will be very durable. The other three are good leather as well. They will be a little softer than the Pro Elite gloves.
K.B,
I have been a lifelong fan of the Wilson catchers mitt. What sets this glove apart from a Wilson? MJ4
All Star makes a nice quality glove. Their leathers are top quality, soft and durable. One suggestion, go easy with the glove oil, the glove is pretty soft, and you don't want it to become floppy. The padding is very well done, especially in the thumb area.
Linda
Which glove is better, this All Star or the A2000 Pudge? fat
The All Star Pro Elite series and the A2000 Pudge are great gloves. The All Star Pro Elilte Series leather is very stiff and can take quite a while to break in compared to the A2000 Pudge. Both use high quality leather and will be very durable.
Kara
Which 33.5" catchers glove is lighter, the All Star CM3000SBT or the Wilson A2000? Also, which do you believe takes a shorter time to break in? Geoff
Both are great mitts. Assuming you are comparing the same size in each, the A2000 may be just a little lighter in weight. Both are high quality mitts with similar break-in times, the All Star may be just a little stiffer out of the box though.
Tyler
I just got this glove. What is the best way to break this glove in? I plan on using this mitt for a long time, so I would love to break it in properly. Harley
If you are looking to get the absolute most out of this mitt in terms of durability, I recommend repetition as the best way to break it in. You can ask any elite level collegiate or professional player, and they'll all say that repetition is the best way to break a glove in. However, if you are interested in other methods, I recommend our Glove Resource Guide: http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-resource-guide/
Tyler
I'm currently using a RAWLINGS 32 1/2" is 33 1/2 going to be too big or heavy? I'm 15 1/2 yrs old 5'10" 145 lbs. Currently, playing varsity (soph). Do you have this glove in a 33"? Mike 47
At 33.5", the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is a good size for a High School catcher. All Star does not make a 33" model in their Pro Elite Series.
Tyler
My son has been using the Rawlings Primo for 2.5 years. Which glove is heavier? G7
The Primio Series will be just a little heavier in weight compared to the All Star Pro Elite Series (assuming you are comparing the same size models).
Tyler
My son uses a 32.50 catching glove and he just turned 11. When should he get a 33.50? mattyice37
33.5" is a very popular size at the High School and College level. Many bigger freshmen at the High School level will use a 33.5" mitt.
Tyler
Does this glove have a deep pocket? Also, is this the correct glove for a small 15 year old? Buying this year to use next year. kfan
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is a very high quality glove with a deep pocket. It will be very durable and the perfect size for him to grown into.
Kara
I am looking for a catcher's mitt to use at the college level. I have used a 33.50" mitt, but was wondering if jumping to the 35.00" All Star mitt would be smart? jrl0417
The 35.00" All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000BT Catcher's Mitt might be slightly too big of a mitt. I would recommend looking at a 34.00" or a 34.50" mitt.
Marcus
I am eleven years old coming off a 32 1/2" mitt. And I was wondering if a 33 1/2" would be the right choice since my other glove was way too small? sully2
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is an adult model and is typically best for an older player. We recommend a 33.00" youth catcher's mitt.
Kara
Would this size mitt be suitable for a 13 year old? Ryan
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt may be too big. Based on your age, we would recommend using a 32'' or 32.50'' mitt. For more information on sizing please visit our Glove Coach at http://www.justballgloves.com/glove-coach/
Tori
I'm 16 years old about 5'11" 150 lbs, varsity catcher. Would you recommend the 33 1/2 or a 32? JP
Based on your age and position, a 33" model is the suggested size. If you can handle the extra glove a 33.50" would be acceptable as well.
Jason
I ordered a glove and can't find anything on it that says the size. It is the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt? Dori kolb
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is a 33.50" model.
Damon
Is this catcher's mitt stiffer than most catchers mitts or softer? Jp
Initially, the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt will be stiffer than most catchers mitts. It will also hold its form for a longer period of time than most catcher's mitts.
Sean
I was wondering if I should get the 33.50" or the 35.00" glove? I am in high school and I'm 5'10" and 170 lbs. ryan
We suggest that you use a 33.50" All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt from the information you gave above.
Kyle
Why do some All Star pro elites have different logos on the strap? Some say All Star and some have a star on them, why is that? Zach
Some of the different models of the all star line carry a different logo than the logo on the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT). There is no definite reason for this, but the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) will come with the logo shown in the picture.
Jackson
On some gloves I see "Profiled Toe", can someone tell me what this means? Is this a feature I should look for? Sherlock Bean
The "Toe" is just a part of the glove that All-Star refers to. It does not change the performance of the glove. You will not have to look for that in a catchers mitt. The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt has a "Profiled Toe".
Aaron
I keep reading about he laces stretching and being "weak." I know this is a quality glove, but what is the word on the laces? Also does the 33.5" compare to the Wilson 33.5" or is the All Star smaller? EG
We have had some customer reviews saying the laces get stretched out, however that will happen with nearly any glove during use. During the break-in period laces will stretch, and simply require a tightening every once in awhile to maintain that stiff feel it has when it's brand new. This will be the case with nearly any glove. The 33.5" All Star gloves are the same size as the 33.5" gloves from any other manufacturer.
Kyle J.
Can you please tell me the weight of these Catchers mitts: Rawlings Pro Preferred, Rawlings Primo, and the All Star Pro Elite 33.50"? Bruce
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt), Rawlings Pro Preferred, and the Rawlings Primo do not list the weight of the gloves. The Primo will feel the heaviest. The Rawlings Pro Preferred and All Star Pro Elite will feel very similar.
Brandon
What is the difference between the CM3000SBT and the CM3000BT? Indiana
The difference between these two mitts is the size. The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) has a 33.50" circumference while the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000BT) has a 35.00" circumference.
Marcus
Which glove is lighter out of the Wilson A2000 Superskin catcher's mitt or this glove? Also, which glove is going to last me longer if I look after them well? druzick
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) is a high quality mitt used by many MLB catchers. The durability is incredible. The A2000 Superskin mitt will feel lighter and break-in easier. The durability will also be awesome as well.
Brandon
I don't know if I should get the CM3000BT or the CM3000SBT. I am 6'2", 190 lbs. Could you help please? MK
At your height and weight, I see more guys using the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt. If you have very large hands and would prefer the larger mitt, go with the 35" CM3000BT.
Brandon
How does this glove compare to the Rawlings Pro Preferred or the Wilson A2K? I am looking to buy a new catcher's mitt and I currently have a Pro Preferred. I am wondering if I should switch it up? Jack
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt is a top of line catchers mitt just like the A2K and Pro Preferred. The All Star is made out of Japanese Tanned Steer Hide and will require a long break-in period.
Jason
Most of the review comments about this mitt are highly favorable. I'm interested in it even though my catcher's glove experience mainly includes the Heart of the Hide and Pro Preferred gloves. I am surprised and concerned to see so many comments about a problem with loose webs and laces stretching out too fast. I've never experienced this with any of my Rawlings gloves in the past and I've played throughout high school and college. Is this problem unique to All Star or this particular glove? I'm concerned about investing this much money into a glove which has this significant a problem that a number of people have apparently experienced. Should I be? legal eagle
No, I would not feel worried to ever own the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt). This is one of the highest quality mitts available on the market today. It is used by many MLB catchers. I can understand that some catchers prefer a tighter web, compared to a more loose web. There are many different preferences for mitt types out there. If you are thinking of spending the money on a mitt of this quality I can understand your concerns, but rest assured, the CM3000SBT is a fantastic choice.
Brandon
I am 5 foot 9 and weigh 177 pounds. I am a college sophomore. What is a good size catchers glove for me? I want to be able to be quick with my exchange. Would a 33 1/2 inch be to big, or would a 32 1/2 inch be better? Also, what is a common size big league catchers use for All Star mitts? Livingthedream
The size of mitt you should use is based less on your size as a player and more on your personal preference. A 33.5 inch model like the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) is a commonly used size and right about middle of the road between a large pocket size but a shallower pocket for an easier transition to the throwing hand. Professional catchers, just like every other level, vary greatly in the sizes they prefer. Take, for instance, last years gold glove winners: Salvador Perez uses a very small 32 inch All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000XSBT) that is great for transition to the throwing hand while Yadier Molina uses a much bigger Rawlings Heart of the Hide (PROSCM41JB) which is a 34 inch mitt.
Patrick
Why does this particular mitt, if it's such good quality, have so many negative comments about laces stretching out, being too loose, or breaking in too much? I have been playing for several decades and used many catchers gloves (some very top end quality) and I have never encountered that kind of a problem before with a single one of them. legal eagle
The comments are taken straight from our customers. The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) is a very high quality MLB style mitt. I would not feel worried to ever own the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt). This is one of the highest quality mitts available on the market today. I can understand that some catchers prefer a tighter web, compared to a more loose web. There are many different preferences for mitt types out there. If you are thinking of spending the money on a mitt of this quality I can understand your concerns, but rest assured, the CM3000SBT is a fantastic choice.
Brandon
I'm a high school freshman and I'm 5'11" and 218 lbs. What size catcher's mitt would you recommend? How long do these mitts last? Tanner
We would recommend a glove between a 32.5" and a 33.5". The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's mitt should last at least 3-5 years with proper care.
John
Is the color between this and the SBK glove the only difference? Catcher
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000BSBK) Catcher's Mitt was originally released as a limited edition by All Star for professional players only. Technically, it still is a relatively limited edition mitt, however it has become recently available. The difference between the 3000SBT and the 3000SBK is the color and the relative availability.
Joe
How does this mitt compare to the A2K Pudge? yadi
Both of these options are great catchers mitts. The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt is going to have a shorter break in period than the Wilson A2K Series (A2KRB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt), but they are both very durable.
Allison
What is the difference between the CM3000TM glove the and CM3000SBT? Tricha
The difference between the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt and the All Star Pro Series (CM3000TM) Training Mitt is the CM3000TM is used for drills. It is designed to teach catchers to catch in the pocket.
Chinyere
I am 14 years old, and I am 5'8". I was wondering what size mitt should I get. Also, will this mitt last me a while? Porter
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt is one of the higher quality catcher's mitts we carry and is made of a high-end leather that should provide a long useful life with good care. At your age, a 32.00" (CM3000XSBT) or 32.50" mitt will be the recommended size. But the 33.50" model of this mitt could be a good option if you like a larger pocket.
Mac
I am working on breaking in my CM3000 glove and heard catching balls off a pitching machine is a great way to speed up the break-in process. Is it bad for the glove to catch the yellow, rubber dimpled balls? Peter
That would be a good way to break in your All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt. The yellow, rubber, dimpled balls should not decrease the quality of your mitt at all.
Tom
I am not sure what you call it but I am looking for a replacement "pinky hole" adjustment leather, mine just broke. Great glove. Love it! Really holds up well other than this. Still my favorite. catcher80
That would be the pinky loop that you are referring to. I would contact All Star Directly and explain that you have a All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) and what happened and they may be able to get it either repaired or replaced depending on the damage. Their number is 1-800-777-3810.
Patrick
My son has been using a 31.5 catchers mitt (he's a freshmen). Would it be too big of a jump from a 31.5 to a 33.5 inch mitt? TBrown
I think that moving from a 31.5" model to this All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) in the 33.5" length would be an adjustment. However, I think going with a 33.5" model like this CM3000SBT would give your son a model that is more in line with his age. That being said, some catcher's like a smaller model and that might be your son's preference. I might even look into some models that have a 32.50" circumference like the Wilson A2000 Series (A20RB15PUDGE Catcher's Mitt)
Ben
Does this glove have two fingers in the pinky finger stall? ting ting
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) does have two fingers in the pinky finger stall, but there is a separator in the pinky finger stall, so the ring finger and the pinky do not touch.
Frankie
I bought my son the CM3000SBT cather's glove a few weeks ago to go with his Wilson A2K Dustin Pedroia infield glove and his Rawlings Pro Preferred outfield glove. The Wilson and the Rawlings both came with a nice leather key chain which my son loves. The All Star glove did not come with a key chain. Does anyone know if I can buy an All Star key chain? Oso
Unfortunately, I do not think that All Star currently produces key chain tags for their mitts like the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT). I actually checked their site and they do not currently have any available for purchase.
Patrick
Does this glove come pre oiled? Rudy
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) is not pre oiled and will require an extensive break in period.
Joe
I'm 6 foot 2 and weigh 200 pounds. What size of mitt in the CM3000 series would you recommend? I use an Evoshield thumb guard with my mitt. Also, would the 33.5 inch be an adjustment from the 34 inch I'm currently using? Turbo
The size of catcher's mitt we would recommend would be based more on your personal preference than your size or age. Certain players like a bigger mitt while others like a smaller one for different reasons. A bigger mitt is better for secure catching and a bigger target but can be heavy and harder to maneuver. A smaller mitt is lighter and easier to move and can help with transfer time to the throwing hand but is a bit harder to squeeze the pitch to secure the catch. A 33.5 inch model like the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) is somewhere in between the two and is a very common choice.
Patrick
Is this a 33.5" mitt? TommyJ
Yes, the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt features a 33.5" pattern.
Jason
What is the difference between this glove and the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000BSBK? gavynj12
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) and the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000BSBK Catcher's Mitt) are going to be the same Pro Elite Series, and only have a difference in color.
Frankie
I like my mitts to be stiff. Will this mitt be stiff for me long into the future? Earl
Yes, the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt is constructed with a high quality leather and will take some break in time.
Damon
What is the size of this glove? Is it 33.5 inches or 35 inches? Dougie
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) is a 33.5 inch pattern.
Patrick
What size is this glove? johnny bench
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt has a 33.50" pattern.
Jason
How would this glove compare to the Rawlings Pro Preferred? Logamn
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is a very high quality mitt and would compare favorably to a Rawlings Pro Preferred catcher's mitt.
Marcus
When I buy this will it be brand new? Jp
If you were to purchase the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) it would be in new condition.
Cameron
If I'm using a 32.5 mitt now would switching to this 33.5 mitt slow down my transfer times? Kreagan16
No, jumping up to the 33.5" glove in the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt will not slow down your transfer time. The extra inch will help you frame the ball a little bit better, with having a little more reach.
Nick
Would you say that the 3000 is just as easy to close at the 3100? My son is a freshman and I'm looking for a mitt that can get him through high school, but I am concerned about his ability to close 33.5 mitt. Mike
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt and the All Star Pro Series: CM3100SBT Catcher's Mitt are both 33.5". For your son's age we recommend a 33" mitt, however he would be able to handle a 33.5" mitt as well.
Angelique
Do you offer a 34.00 or 34.50 in any of your catcher's mitts? Don't see them listed. Doug
We do offer some catcher's mitts in both 34.00 and 34.50 inch patterns. At this time the biggest pattern we have with respect to All-Star will be the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt in a 33.50 inch pattern.
Cameron
I just got my glove and I have games coming up in a week or so. What oil would be best to use on this glove and what techniques would be best for the quickest break-in? TylerO
The best way to break in any catcher's mitt (including this All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) is to play as much catch and catch as many bullpens as possible. To be honest, any oil will benefit the glove in regard to softening the leather, but overuse of oil will lead to weighing down the glove. Be sure and be very light in the use of oil if you will be using it to assist with the break-in of this glove.
Ben
My son is 104 pounds and is 13. Should he go for the 33.5 or 32 size mitt? hedgeman
Typically, for a 13 year old catcher, I would recommend using a 32.00 inch pattern. The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt features a 33.50 inch pattern and may be a mitt that your player would need to grow in to.
John P.
Should I use a 32" or 33.5" mitt? I'm 18 years old. peyton
Our general recommendation for your age is a 33" catcher's mitt. You can move down to a 32.5" if you like a tighter fit or up to a 33.5" if you prefer a larger mitt. A 32" may be too small depending on your hand size and personal preference.
Angelique
Is there an 33" All Star mitt? peyton
At this time we do not carry a 33.00 inch catcher's mitt with regards to All Star.
Cameron
I'm 14 and 125 pounds. I play 125 games a year. What size glove should I get? I'm a freshman going to be a varsity catcher this year. gunnar
Based on your age, I would recommend that you look at Catcher's mitts featuring a 33" pattern.
Nick
Can you fit a evoshield thumb guard in this glove? gunnar
It really depends on your hand size if whether or not you can fit your hand in the glove with the thumb guard. I would definitely think so, but it is hard to judge without you actually trying it on.
Nick
What is the leather used? Does it have a lot of padding? BALLER
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is made of Japanese Tanned U.S. Steerhide. This glove has an average amount of padding.
Tori
What is the difference between the CM3000SBT and the CM3100SBT? Alex Tor
This All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) and the All Star Pro Series (CM3100SBT Catcher's Mitt) will feature the same 33.5" circumference. However, this CM3000SBT will feature higher quality leather and it won't have the wrist protector that is included on the CM3100SBT. This CM3000SBT will have higher potential durability due to the higher quality leather.
Ben
How much does this glove weigh? How does it compare in weight to the cm3000sbk? Hank
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt weighs approximately 690 g, whereas the CM3000SBK weighs approximately 710 g.
Logan
Does this CM3000 Pro Elite (Black and Tan) glove have a deeper pocket versus the one that is solid black? CJ
In my opinion, the pocket depth on this All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt) will be pretty much the same as the pocket depth on the All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBK Catcher's Mitt) as both mitts are 33.5" in their circumference.
Ben
My son plays catcher ( 17 years old ). He's been using his Rawlings HOH mitt for about 2 years. I asked him if he did get another glove what would he want it to be. He said a mitt that is "Lightweight and Soft"! So my question is, what's the best lightweight softest mitt out there for varsity high school and or freshman college? Is it this one or what do you recommend? Mack
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is going to be pretty stiff, and not necessarily lightweight. If you are looking for a softer mitt, I would check out the All Star MVP Series: CM3030BT Catcher's Mitt, but it wouldn't last as long as the Pro Elite Series.
Logan
Before I buy this glove I want to know, that with the stiffness of the outer part of the glove, does it cause rebound in the glove. Or is the soft pocket make for an easy catch, but a good transition? Ck
The All Star Pro Elite Series (CM3000SBT) Catcher's Mitt is going to be similar in design to other catchers gloves and is not going to rebound in the glove due to the stuffer outer part of the glove. The pocket is going to be a softer pocket once broken in and this is one of the best options of catchers gloves that there is.
Carter
How broken in do these gloves come from the factory? Also, what would you recommend to use to condition this glove? Austin
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is going to be very stiff when you first receive it. There is no factory break in before they are shipped out. As for the conditioner, any type of glove oil will work to condition this glove.
Cooper
How long does it take to break in? Carter Swift
The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt will take at least a couple of weeks of solid use to be broken in.
Logan
Would you recommend the All Star CM3000SBT or the Wilson A2000 MN25 for high school varsity baseball? Mason Williams
Both the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt and the Wilson A2000 would make excellent choices for a high school varsity catcher. Which one to go with will really come down to personal preference as both are well constructed gloves that are very popular for players in high school, college and the pros.
Cameron
I have heard that the All Star Pro Elite seems smaller than a normal 33.5" mitt, is that true? Luke
We have not heard that the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt seems smaller than the listed 33.5 size. With any catcher's mitt, the actual size will differ then listed as the circumference is measured prior to construction. The change, if any, would be smaller than 1/4" in our opinion.
Cameron
What size catchers mitt do you recommend for a 13 year old who plays 14u? Justin
I would look at getting a bit smaller mitt such as the 33', to get your player more control. The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt could need more of a break in as well.
Max
I am a 6 foot 180 lb senior in high school and want a glove to break in for college. I don't know how to measure hands but if I had to guess I would say my hands are on the smaller end. Will this glove be hard for me to handle after using a 33" mitt throughout HS? Luke
A mitt is always one of personal preference. Most college catchers will use between a 32.50-33.50, depending on preference. The All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt is a great option to get for a college catcher seeking a 33.50 inch design.
Cameron
I have a Wilson 1790 A2000 . Will the All Star have a larger or smaller pocket? Also what mitt has the largest pocket? BigDave
When comparing the pocket depth of the All Star Pro Elite Series: CM3000SBT Catcher's Mitt to that of other catcher mitts with the same 33.50 inch design one will not find much of a difference. As to what catcher's mitt will have the largest pocket, that would a tie between the All Star models that are 35 inch patterns and the 35 inch Marucci Pro Founders' Series model.
Cameron
What's the difference between this model and the CM3100SBT? jacob
The CM3000SBT is made with the highest quality leather from All Star's Japanese Steerhide leather stock, resulting in a glove designed to handle the highest pitch velocities and last a very long time, as well as a reinforced web design.
Kyle J.
I was wondering if going up in size would be a smart decision. I"ve been using a 33.5 with the all star pro model which is black leather (I forgot the name). Would a larger mitt be too heavy and difficult with transfers even though it"s easier to receive? I am a rising high school senior. Jarrett
It sounds like you are already aware of the pros and cons of increasing in glove size. I typically like going to route of a smaller glove because of the ease of transfers and overall control. Ultimately, it will be your decision to weigh those factors but the All Star Pro Elite Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT is a great glove.
Tyler
Would you prefer this mitt over A2K, A2000, and Rawlings Pro Preferred? Davis
I would say the All Star Pro Elite Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT is equal quality between the A2K and the Rawlings Pro Proffered and would be more of a personal preference.
Max
What is the difference in this glove and the CM3100 besides price? Anthony
The All Star Pro Elite Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT will feature a 33.50 inch design, higher quality grade of Japanese steerhide leather and a more sturdy leather shell overall compared to the All Star Pro Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3100SBT.
Cameron
What is the difference between a CM3000SBT and a CM3000XSBT? Jan
The All Star Pro Elite Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT is a 33.5" model while the CM3000XSBT is a 32" model.
Tyler
I used this glove for 3 years and we had it get conditioned and they steamed it and now it’s all hard and I can’t even put my hand in it. How can I get it back to the form I had it in? Jackson toberman
Unfortunately it is most likely not possible to get have your glove returned to its original condition. Steaming can remove a lot of the moisture from the leather and it is difficult to get that back. You can try using a high quality glove oil to gradually add some pliability and moisture back, but there is no guarantee that will work for you.
Kyle
How long will it last? I need a new glove and I need it to last awhile. Name
It is impossible to say how long any catcher's mitt may last a player. With that being said, the All Star Pro Elite Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT is one of the top catcher's mitts on the market and, with proper care, should last a player anywhere from 3-4 years. Within that time frame, the laces will likely need to be redone but the shell of the mitt should be able to hold up.
Cameron
Is this pro-skip Japanese leather? Carlos
The All Star Pro Elite Series Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT is constructed from Japanese tanned U.S. steerhide.
Cameron
Can you get lace in wrist protector? Is black/camel only color? Daniel Deese
Unfortunately the All Star Pro Elite 33.5" Baseball Catcher's Mitt: CM3000SBT only comes in the one colorway and with the features described on the listing.
