New from Wilson for 2017! What a wonderful glove with perennial excellence! The 2017 Wilson A2000 Series is more than just a new year. Wilson has improved on the design while continuing to offer the quality and craftsmanship that one has come to know and expect from the A2000. Since its introduction in 1957, the Wilson A2000 has set the standard for premium ball gloves. With over 55 years of game changing performance, the A2000 only continues to get better and is still one of the most popular glove choices among baseball's top athletes. Wilson has spent decades working with MLB players to refine the A2000 baseball glove so that it outperforms and outlasts all others. The A2000 is made from American Pro Stock Steerhide Leather that is hand selected for its rugged durability. Inside the glove, there is an extremely comfortable Dri-Lex Wrist Lining. Dri-Lex Technology is an ultra-breathable material that transfers moisture away from the skin, keeping your hand cool and dry. Each A2000 model also features the patented Dual-Welting that creates a pre-curved finger design to help maintain the most stable and durable pocket possible. Unmatched in their feel and performance, all A2000 patterns are endlessly field tested and constantly improved by hundreds of professionals and top amateur players that choose only Wilson Ball Gloves. The result is a glove that breaks in perfectly for hardworking players everywhere. Wilson: Choose Your Glove!

What is different about this glove as opposed to Wilson's past catchers mitts?
The leather quality, design of the glove and craftsmanship on this 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt (A20RB17CM33) will be very similar to past A2000 catcher's mitts. However, the new Blonde and Red colorway on this mitt will be new for 2017.
How is this glove for a 9U player?
This 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt (A20RB17CM33) will feature a 33.00" circumference and a fitting for an adult hand. For a player at 9 years old, I would make a suggestion of getting a mitt with a 31" - 32" circumference and a youth fitting. A suggestion I would make for you is the 2017 Rawlings Gamer Youth Pro Taper 32" Catcher's Mitt (GCM32PTB).
For a catcher that wants to keep a glove for at least 2 years of varsity and summer baseball, catching high velocity pitchers, which would be better this glove or the 2017 Wilson A2000 Super Skin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17M1SS?
Both the 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 and the 2017 Wilson A2000 Super Skin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17M1SS are great mitts to consider for a high school and college catcher. These two mitts are slightly different in size and the SuperSkin feature on the 33.5 inch will give the glove a slightly lighter feel to it as well as making the mitt more moisture resistant and tougher than the traditional leather mitt. In the end, it will come down to one's personal preference.
Would this mitt be appropriate for a 12 year old catcher (5'2")? He is currently using an Akadema Praying Mantis.
The 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 is a great catcher's mitt to consider and will require some patience to get the mitt broken in properly. For a 12 year old it may take a few weeks to even close to a month for the mitt to be "game ready." With that said, the size to get really comes down to what feels best to the player but the 33.00 inch pattern of this mitt would be a great size.
How does the quality of this glove compare to an A2000 Superskin?
This 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt (A20RB17CM33) will be a great mitt for a player looking to get a mitt with high quality leather and a 33" circumference. The advantage that a mitt with SuperSkin will present is that the overall weight on the glove may be a little less, the break-in will be shorter and some people even think that the durability can be longer on SuperSkin mitts.
How easily can this glove be broken in? Also does it have a good pocket the deadens the ball on impact to keep it in the glove tight.
The 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 is going to come pretty stiff, but the break in is not hard. The high quality leather will keep the form of the glove for a longer period of time.
How does this glove compare in thumb protection compared to the Pro Preferred Rawlings and All Star Pro Elite?
The 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 will stack up favorably with regards to thumb protection in comparison to a Pro Preferred or Pro Elite model. A model you may want to consider if thumb protection is important is the 2018 Wilson A2000 SuperSkin 33.5" Catcher's Mitt: WTA20RB18M2SS. This mitt features more thumb protection that other A2000 models.
Would this mitt fit too loosely on a 14 year old?
The 2017 Wilson A2000 33" Catcher's Mitt: A20RB17CM33 is an adult mitt and should be okay for a 14 year old as long as they have large enough hands. We have a 100 day guarantee on all of our gloves so that you can try it out for 100 days and return it for a full refund or exchange at any time within that period.

A true American icon in the world of sports equipment. This Chicago-based manufacturer of quality gloves began in 1913 as Ashland Manufacturing, which was as a subsidiary of the Wilson & Co. meat company. At one point, the enterprise became known as the Thomas E. Wilson Co., taking the name of an early chief executive. In 1931, the name was changed to Wilson Sporting Goods Co.
Wilson makes a variety of baseball gloves for several different positions. They are best known for models that include A2K and A2000, as well as custom gloves. Players such as Clayton Kershaw and Miguel Cabrera have sported Wilson baseball gloves.
(1) - First remove any existing dirt by wiping the glove with a clean, dry cloth. (2) - When clean, rub a small amount of conditioner into the leather with hands or clean cloth. (3) - Work it into the web, palm, laces, inside of the glove, & any other area that has become dry or is starting to crack. (4) - When finished, place your glove in a warm, dry area (70 - 90 F) & allow the leather to absorb the conditioner for 24 hrs. (5) - Re-treat your glove when you notice the leather is starting to dry out. Prior to the off-season, apply a light coat of conditioner to keep the leather from becoming brittle.
Note: Excessive glove conditioner/oil can damage or shorten the life of a new glove. Use it sparingly.
