Mark Teixeira uses the Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROSTX23 First Base Mitt. It is a discontinued model. The Rawlings Pro Preferred Series: PROFM20KB First Base Mitt will be similar to the glove he uses except for the color.
How long will it last and would you recommend the Dual Core or original?
There is not an exact time on how long a glove will last. Both the Rawlings Heart of the Hide Series and the Dual Core series are made of top of the line leather and will last several years. The Dual Core Series will feel a little heavier compared to the original Heart of the Hide Series.
will this work for softball?
For softball, I always prefer and recommend a 13 inch first base mitt. It really boils down to your preference though, but, yes you can use this for softball.
